Chris is a partner with the Garrett McNatt Hennessey & Carpenter 360 team. A political and policy strategist who has worked with campaigns and initiatives throughout the South, Chris Carpenter is a veteran of Democratic federal, state and local races. His extensive experience includes concentrated work in both Georgia and South Carolina, where he has been the Campaign Manager for numerous gubernatorial, statewide, congressional, and ballot initiative campaigns.

From 1999 to 2002, Chris served as Legislative Counsel in the office of Governor Roy Barnes, and later served as the Chief of Staff for Georgia Lieutenant Governor Mark Taylor. An attorney by profession, Chris has served as the legal advisor to several committees in the Georgia General Assembly, and has worked in the private sector as a government affairs professional and as a trial lawyer. Campaigns and Elections magazine recently recognized Chris as one of the leading “Georgia Influencers,” naming him one of the “Top 10” Democrats in the state.

Chris served as a lead political strategist for the Georgia Chamber of Commerce in its attempt to pass regional transportation SPLOST referendums across Georgia (all regions outside the metro-Atlanta region.  In addition, Chris was a lead strategist for the successful passage of Georgia'a Charter School referendum garnering 59 of the vote.

In addition to his political work, Chris works with clients to achieve strategic objectives in the public affairs arena representing clients at the local, state and federal levels on legislate and regulatory initiatives.

Chris is a cum laude graduate of Wofford College, and holds a J.D. from the Emory University School of Law.
